Cedar Lake Village, Hoeger House undertake $17.5 million expansion
In addition to the $20.85 million construction project announced last month for the Olathe Medical Center (OMC) campus, OMC, in partnership with the Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society, has announced plans for a $17.5 million expansion of the Cedar Lake Village senior living retirement community and the Hoeger House short-term rehabilitation center.
The first phase will involve construction of a four-story wing designed for assisted and independent living. Thirty-six assisted living apartments will be built, as well as a floor of at least 11 larger loft-type residences for independent housing. Construction will begin in spring 2009 and should take 18 to 24 months to finish. The second phase will include renovation of an existing assisted living facility into a specialized memory care unit for people with early to mid-stage Alzheimer's or dementia. The third phase involves doubling the size of Hoeger House, a short-term rehabilitation facility that provides intensive therapy to patients recovering from strokes, surgery or other illnesses.
